Stop and Think

Stop and Think: Do you ever have a moment or two when something happens, and it makes you stop and think? In a busy world full of noise and sensory overload little things can give you a moment of clarity or just a moment in time to think about life.  Things that you otherwise fail to notice.

I was in hospital, for a routine appointment ending in a quick conversation about everything and anything. As I was leaving the nurse asked if I knew the way out and she said follow the grey line on the floor. I smiled and said thanks and headed down the corridor and stopped as I turned a corner thinking to myself, Grey line? It was then that I realised that there was a grey swirling pattern on the floor, not really a line but I understood that was what she meant.

Thankfully it did lead me in the right direction as I soon realised without that simple direction, I would have soon been lost in the warren of doors and corridors ahead of me without her help.
On the quick walk back home, it struck me about the many paths we have a head of us in life. As some come to an end others soon open up to us, some small and others long but without help and guidance we can often be lost or left with a feeling of being overwhelmed.

It is not a weakness to seek or accept help in fact in many ways it is a strength for it shows we accept our vulnerabilities and are happy be guided no matter what form that may take.  Learning new ways to do something gives us confidence and inspires new growth as we follow new pathways of learning or experience new opportunities in life.

Just like ourselves the seasons follow a path, an intertwining journey we are all bound to.

Spring is a time to throw off the symbolic shackles of the old and embrace the new. Everything is brighter as the dark mornings embrace the lighter warmer ones. Flowers and trees blossom in a rainbow of colours.  Spring is a time of rebirth, growth, and fertility. It marks the return of light and warmth, symbolizing the triumph of life over the darkness of winter bringing the potential for new growth and abundance.

On my way home from the hospital there is a tree lined road by where I live and, in the winter, looks nice but by Spring it blossoms with vibrant hues of pink on every tree. I always smile when I walk down this road in the Spring and early Summer as it looks stunning against the bright blue cloudless sky.
Stop and Think.
As the season turns to a new one the blossoms start to turn a different shade of colour and fall to the ground below. Like life there is a path we and the blossoms follow with a start and an end but in between we can grow and develop and see where life takes us.
***
The blossoms in time fall from the branches and lay on the ground waiting to be reclaimed once more by the soil below each tree. Like life they remind us of the past and yet also of what is to come after. Like life the blossoms represent our lives and the paths we must follow.
***
We are not forgotten for the memories remain for we know they once blossomed and so will again. They will only fade for a short while before a new cycle opens and they can blossom once more. We will still recall they once blossomed and looked as beautiful as they did the first time we met them on our journey in life.
