The Nightbird: Hello readers, I hope you are all doing well and are looking forward to the year ahead? Like I said in my last blog I have found myself with a lot of time on my hands lately so what better to do than to share some of my thoughts and feelings with you wonderful people.
***
So today has been a difficult day. I thought I was turning a corner but unfortunately today I have been in a considerable amount of pain. Unfortunately it has kicked my brain into overload. “I’m going backwards“, “it’s not fair” and the most scary of all “I can’t go back to how I used to be“. After feeling sorry for myself for most of the day I’m now laying in bed stressed that Christmas is just around the corner and I’m not going to be able to do all the things we had planned. So what better way to take your mind off things than a bit of doom scrolling.

But as the saying goes ‘the Lord works in mysterious ways ‘. If I hadn’t had the day I have had and I wasn’t lying here mindlessly scrolling I wouldn’t have come across the person who inspired me to write this post.

I have named this blog, “The Nightbird” for two reasons. Firstly I am writing it at 11:42 pm. Anyone who knows me knows that is way past my bed time but secondly and more importantly because of a truly magnificent woman called Jane Marczewski aka Nightbirde. If you haven’t heard of her please I urge you to look her up.

She has to be one of the most inspirational, talented and joyous people to have graced this earth. A true earth angel. She was a young woman fighting cancer who had a dream and the fact she was ill was not going to hold her back. When she stood there on the stage with millions of eyes on her from across the world, she said probably one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard;

“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy”
(Nightbirde – Jane Marczewski)

I cannot tell you how much this quote has affected me. It’s made me realise how many years of my life I have wasted, being angry, being sad, filled with regrets, despair and at some stages in my life even hatred.
***
She also said that God told her when she was lying in pain crying in hospital that, “every day of yours was written in my book before it came to be”. Listening to her afterwards was amazing because many people may have turned their backs on him. If you knew this was going to happen and I was going to be in this pain and you love me how could you let it happen? But she didn’t! She turned towards him and grew in faith. That experience she said brought her some sort of comfort as she knew that he would be with her for whatever happened next. (I’m paraphrasing here but go and check out her Instagram page and listen for yourself).

We all experience difficult times throughout our life in many different ways. The loss of a loved one, illnesses and in my case at the moment pain. Yes there are hard days, painful days but he knows my suffering and all of yours and we are never alone in it.
***
I hope that this blog has reached out and touched your hearts and helped you to realise we are never alone, never forgotten in our trials. They are all happening for a reason, we just don’t see the big picture yet. For me tomorrow (or today 00:21) is a new day and I will choose to find some good in it despite the pain.
***
My hope for you going forward into the New Year is that you embrace the good times with open arms but also the difficult times. It’s when we are in these difficult times and we choose to see the good that we draw strength and love closer to us. In the words of a truly wonderful woman.

“It’s ok, if you’re a little lost, we’re all a little lost, and it’s alright”
(Nightbirde – Jane Marczewski)
