Understanding union and yoga.

Taught from Within: There are very different levels of understanding when we talk about union (yoga).  When many start out, they have no understanding of what they really want other than a bit of exercise and good health.  When we start a yoga class how many of us go with the soul intention of having union with God?

We cannot say it any other way, how many wish to find their light within?

What we cannot get away from it that each and every pose gives a spiritual instruction to the spirit within.  This external instruction creates thoughts, feelings and energy.  This then attracts spirits which then would make the desired changes that we seek.

Once again, how many of us desire union with God?

This is where the fun begins or doesn’t.   This is where many problems lay from the misunderstanding of East and West.  This is where the Western way will ignore many lessons, tests and discipline which will enable us to move forward if this is our chosen path.

Unfortunately, we cannot sell God,

we cannot buy spiritual experiences.

Selling God has consequences!

What many teachers are not aware of or consider is the individual psyche of a student.  It must be understood that many poses given will force open cracks in the psyche.  This will cause much mental instability and upheaval.  Many parts of Western culture are opposite to what a pose (thought, vibration, understanding) is trying to teach.  This alone can cause much disharmony in our students. This being said the Eastern system does not work the way of the Western, our cultures and mindsets are different for a reason.

The energies of the East are opposite to the energies of the West.

Our own cultures have a large role in our perceptions and how we interpret the lessons.

Doing yoga can torment our own spirits if it is not what it wants.

As we have explained a pose is energy, if the energy being created is not what our own spirit wants it will cause trouble.  Again, this is where the teachers of the West are not informed.  This is why we always state that when we do a yoga class always set our intention for a stretch only and close the door to these unseen energies and influences.

Going back to our opening paragraph, we can cause our own problems through lack of knowledge and understanding. However, we can only know what we are taught, our teachers should be aware!  Once again, we ask our readers how many of us do yoga to have unity with God?

When we truly seek unity, everything else we need is added.  It is always interesting to see those adding to their yoga sales, alcohol, chocolate, tarot cards, manifestation ceremonies and sexualising yoga are a few examples.  It is not needed, but the western way, the external way, the financial way all opposite from unity.

***Taught from Within***

In many cases we are letting our physical character control the inner voice, external instruction, pose, desire, our image trying to steer the ship so to speak.  What we really want is not what we are getting, we are getting disharmony.  These conflicting instructions can bring out some of our own negative attributes.

These negative attributes can alienate us from others.

Moving forward it will be important to differentiate yoga and union.  Yoga in the West is a commercial venture to make money.  If we teach yoga, we must be aware of the dangers and consequences because we are not using it as we should. Ultimately what has been given to connect to the light within is being misused.

As we always say, set our intentions for a stretch only.  It may be a simple mantra to many that we repeat, but if our spirit wants to go left and the mantra is trying to force it go right, we have caused the chaos and upset in our minds.

Think of 2 different computer operating systems, one trying to give commands to the other.  It isn’t going to work.  This is the same with Eastern philosophies on Western minds, different hemispheres.  Constantinople or where East meets West. The compatibility is different, the frequencies are different.  Yoga is designed to work on the Eastern mind, not the Western.  The union, the connection is different. Try and plug a UK plug into an Indian socket.

The western mind is taught differently, the connection comes from within….

It won’t work without an adaptor,

we need a bond.

We need union.

Just because we have given a Western name to an Eastern instruction it does not mean it acts in the same way.  Not all poses are the same, however there is a path which bridges, unites and binds.  It becomes the adaptor.

We need to adapt to change, REPOSE, practice from a different angle.

The adaptor is the warrior pose, the peaceful warrior being the goal.  The peaceful warrior has battled chaos to find peace. They have found the feminine aspect of harmony; they have brought balance to the mind by understanding their sisters and brothers (masculine and feminine energies).  Without our sister harmony, we cannot find our brother.

Seek your light within,

The light that teaches and illuminates,

The light that needs no physical pose but

generates equilibrium, balance, harmony.

Peace.

If there are any that wish to know more about this subject please get in touch.  It is important to know that if we are battling mental and emotional instability, yoga can make things worse.  It is better to understand the mechanisms so that we can avoid the negative aspects after our practice.  Set our intentions for a stretch only and not participate in anything spiritual. However be aware we can still pick up problems, not all yoga studios are safe places.

Our next Day of Healing will be advertised shortly.  If we know any that need a bit of help, support and healing bring them along to Crosby Library.  There is no charge for what we do although any donations received are used to cover the cost of room hire.  We are also a run a self healing group for those that have tried everything, lost, lonely or feel they are at the bottom of the pot.  Remember the bottom of the pot is the best bit !
