A Call For Help: In times of war and turmoil it can be so easy to be wrapped up in the fear mongering headlines of the TV and Newspapers these days. It can be hard to see the good stories for the bad.
When you hear of other people being killed or maimed or even displaced it’s hardly surprising that this can in turn plant fear inside of ourselves too.
Unfortunately that is the nature of war and violence spurred on by media and politicians hoping to sway us one way or another to their way of thinking.
It’s is sadly, to say, become more frequently in the last few years than ever before. We should however seek support from others if we are feeling low or lonely or fearful and not allow it all to transfix us into believing there is no hope for positive outcomes.
I am of the mind that we should react when we need to. It is easy to panic due to others words or actions but these actions are so often wasted energies. How you or I act has a knock on effect with others that we don’t necessarily see but a chain reaction is most certainly in action regardless which we should be aware of at all times.
Being calm and being positive cannot only help you as an individual but in equal measure help others too.
As an example that the world hasn’t completely lost its kindness the following is an example how others can help the many just as much as helping the few.
I saw a video online this week of something that happened a few years back which certainly brought a tear to my eye.
In Germany the parents of a 6 year old Kilian Sass who had terminal cancer, put online a request for their son. Kilian wished to hear the noise of a motorbikes once more before he passed away.
The “Noise for Kilian” request soon went out and his parents hoped that at most 20 or 30 local bike owners might hear of the request and hopefully turn up. However, the positive side of the internet worked its magic and an internet wide call out was made.
The positive outcome resulted in between 15,000 – 20,000 motorbike riders from across Europe entering the small German town of Rhauderfehn to give young Kilian is wish.
I guess at most this shows compassion isn’t lost on us as a race. If we ask for help there is always someone willing to come to our aid when we need it.
So when we are awash with negative headlines in newspapers and on TV just remember we can always turn to others to help or to just listen when we need it the most. All it takes is for us to ask.
