It’s Always Worth Reaching Out: I first heard the following statistic whilst listening to a podcast the other week. Unfortunately, I cannot recall why the above was brought into the conversation, but it did, however, remain with me even if the main subject matter has long disappeared from my memory.
The mathematical odds of us as individuals being born varies between approximately 1 in 400 trillion or 1 in 700 trillion depending upon where you retrieve this data from online.
This calculation considers the precise combination of your parents’ genes, their meeting, and the survival of your ancestors over thousands of years.
This represents the probability of a specific sperm fertilizing a specific egg, accounting for the unique genetic makeup of the individual.
The survival and successful reproduction of every single ancestor back to the beginning of human life, the odds become astronomically small as the combination of all factors required for your specific existence makes your life a statistical, near-impossible event.
It is amazing to think what goes into us being the individuals that we are.
Yes, we might have the same height, eye colour, shaped nose or colour of skin as others in our individual family both present and in the past, but we are all unique.
It’s Always Worth Reaching Out.
In many ways it shows just how special we are, not in a big headed or conceited way but the fact we managed to be born and become the individual that we are right now.
This is why when we doubt ourselves or have negative thoughts about being here, we should in the first instance seek help from others. During these types of periods, we should recognise just how unique we are and how much of a battle it has been to become the person we truly are. Something that is certainly worth holding onto.
It is easy to allow negativity to encompass ourselves at times during our lifetime if we are prone to such things. Given the daily battles we may have with the world, others and let’s not forget ourselves come to that it’s not surprising that lapses can happen. Often during these moments, they can cloud our judgments as well as the many positives we also have and experience throughout the days, months and years.
It is hardly surprising that we might succumb to negative feelings and thoughts when dealing with daily workloads, time pressures and the hustle and bustle of life. No one can truly understand how we feel if we are not open to sharing our thoughts and feelings openly. Sure, others close to us or on the periphery might notice subtle changes in our mood or demeanour and then again, they might not.
We all go through our own moments at times whilst others are blissfully unaware of the possible turmoil the others are going through at any given moment. Unless we share how we are feeling then all we are doing is leaving ourselves open to misunderstandings and confusions which helps neither party in the long-term.
It’s Always Worth Reaching Out.
Being open is not always easy as it may bring on a feeling of vulnerability which is only to be expected in some cases. However, by talking to someone we trust, or a professional can help immensely and allows us to resolve the issues we might be experiencing.
Whenever you have the feeling of uncertainty in your ability to cope, reaching out to others can always be the antidote to what we might be experiencing that we will possibly need.
Remember you are unique and you have beaten all the odds just to be here so why struggle when all you might need is a helping hand to reconfirm that it has been worth all the effort for you to be you.
