A Testing Time

A Testing Time:  July had certainly been a trying month for me. Having decided to rip the bathroom out and replace it with a new one, something much needed I can assure you.  However, with a number of unforeseen issues beyond everyone’s control a two week project lapsed over to a third and nearly a fourth.

Tension in the house built and arguments ensued. I only state this because we all deal with things differently and at times situations can encroach far beyond that which we expected.

Was it a test, I am unsure but it certainly was very testing to say the least. I knew I had to calm down, try and relax though it wasn’t very easy. I guess the hope “a light at the end of the tunnel”, was what kept me going.

Thankfully it is all over with now and the stress levels have lifted and we can enjoy the peace and tranquillity around the house once again.

We should view problems like toothache, yes we can feel the pain but in a week, a month etc we remember it happened but we forget how painful it actually was for us.

My mettle was well and truly tested but finding common ground such as, “We are in this together”  was as much help to my state of mind as any other.

The phrase “no man is an island”, means that no one can thrive or live completely alone, as everyone relies on others to survive.

In turn no one should lift the burden of stress on their shoulders alone. We should seek help guidance and support and not allow issues to fester and cause us further concern.

Please

I bought a jigsaw before the work commenced and told myself I would start it once the work had been carried out. It is 1000 pieces and it is of Katsushika Hokusai’s “The Great Wave of Kanazawa”.

Did I know in advance what this puzzle would represent at the time of buying it, certainly not. The image caught my attention numerous times when visiting a local book store over a period of months. So one day I said to myself if it is still in store I would buy it.

It’s a beautiful coloured image and depicts a great wave  with struggling fishermen in boats trying to navigate difficult waters.

I have to admit there is certainly a connection, a metaphor you might say in their struggle and mine lately.

I look forward to starting and completing the jigsaw puzzle and allowing calmness envelop me once more.
