The Path: This article is written to help those overcome challenges in life. The path can mean many different things to many people. It can be the process of daily life or for others, finding their way back to God. This article will focus on the spiritual aspects that can help us all, regardless of where our paths lead us.
In some of our early yoga articles, we have written about “going up the mountain” these articles will be useful in reading in conjunction this with this article.
On any spiritual path there are always things that we have to “Go through”, we know this as being set in stone ( King Arthurs sword comes into mind). There are other aspects of the path where we have wiggle room, life choices or free will, so to speak. However, we will always arrive at the same place, but our journeys can be very different.
There are times in life which are just not pleasant, but we will all experience them, death being one of them, our own or of others. We may also see some who seem to have an easier life than the others? The path can stimulate a lot of questions! Such as, why is there good and bad, poverty, illness, disease and wars? Why am I born in this country and not another and vice versa.
There can be situations and life events that seem hard to accept, to comprehend, to justify, especially when we see children being hurt and murdered. Why does God allow it ? All of us on this planet have free will to act how we please, these difficult events we see are not Gods will but “OUR OWN”, in many cases.
To this we need to add those things in life where our lives are turned upside down by the evil of others, actions, thoughts and deeds. Lies, manipulations, fabrications and murders. Why does God let this happen? Why do we see good people suffer when those who are evil seem to swan along?
It is all part of the path.
For those working their way back to God, understanding some spiritual laws can make living this life easier to navigate, having understandings of why things happen to us and more importantly “why not us”, can help when dealing with painful situations and loss.
Even those among us who have no beliefs or doubts, think it’s nonsense, this is all part of the journey-the path. Every life on earth, evolves the soul, each path individual. All is not what it seems when we look at life through spiritual eyes.
What if we change the wording slightly from our opening paragraph changing God to love, “finding their way back to God”. The path now becomes a lot harder, finding our way back to love, how difficult and challenging has the path become if we have experienced some of the horrors this planet can create.
Love is light, filled of components to make the spectrum, love has many qualities to challenge and overcome on the path.
The path can be hard, it can cause pain and hurt as well as love, happiness and the most beautiful of moments. The path stops for no one, we cannot get off, we can not pause, time does not stop. We may find ourselves lost and unhappy, why is life this way? What when we see another in torment, how can we relieve those in pain and suffering when they have no belief of the spirit or after life? It can hurt when see others in misery.
Even this is all part of the path.

Where is the path?
There will be times that we cannot see where we are going, we have no idea. We may know where we want to be but not how to get there. The path may have seemed to disappeared. We can lose our drive, our convictions, our faith can wane or be lost completely. Our minds may be in distress or burnt out from life. Every step we take must be felt when we cannot see.
Completely lost
There may come a time when, what we thought and believed is completely destroyed. Our lives can be turned completely upside down, our minds, our emotions, our families, our friendships, our beliefs. What guides us in these times of trouble and sorrow. Sometimes, like experiences that are set in stone, as Dr. Who fans will know there are fixed points in time that cannot be changed, that must happen, we must go through.
But why must we go through these situations ?
Only when all is broken or burnt to ground or destroyed that the path may become clear. Life has got in the way; it has become overgrown and crowded. On many occasions, loss in all its forms, make the path clearer.

Then with that clarity we see where we are heading, it is easy to navigate, navigate for a time! Then the path once again begins to change and grow and what was clear becomes a little less obvious, but we continue on, our faith renewed.
Change on the path brings change to us.
As we move along the path, our garments change, our thoughts change, we may discard what is no longer useful. Our companions may change, or separate and take different directions. We may pick up new skills or ideas along the way. We may be influenced by mind or emotion to take a certain path, it is not right or wrong, though a path may cause more pain that happiness. We may have had no beliefs but these life events have made us reconsider, to look within, to HOPE there is more.
A chosen path may have been the lesser of two evils or our hands may be tied behind our backs influencing our decisions. The path may become steep and rocky and difficult to navigate. We may be tormented or tortured, suffering at the hands of lies and deceit of others.
This pain can bring forward the inner strength, truth always overcomes.
As we look along the path, the path we thought we were on has disappeared, the route we were taking is no longer there. What then, how do we manage, how do we cope, how do we get our bearings. Unlike a physical path that we can stop on, “the path”, it continues.

It is all on our path, it may feel that it was the wrong choice but each moment on the path our own souls beautify, nothing is wasted, it is all experience.
Why is being on the path so much different from just going through life. For those of us on a spiritual path, the path provides, it gives us the gifts and skills we need to navigate our journey. Not with resentment and anger, not that we will always have faith and belief, not that we will always be strong, fit and healthy. It is,
The Knowing, Gnosis.
The connection to the light within
When we put our feet on a spiritual path many things happen, most importantly
How we think begins to change
In this changing of thoughts, how we experience things, how we recover from pain and suffering changes. We can reason differently and when those bumps in life occur, they do not hold us in pain. We cannot get excited when problems arise but find a level of understanding that helps us navigate and improve any outcome.
We can become skilled captains in rough seas.
This thinking is not driven by what we have read or have learnt but a deeper connection to what has been guiding us and accompanying us along the path. Our inner light. A single lifetime is not the end when on the path, it is a part of the journey home. Spiritual laws protect and lessen the pain of life’s troublesome outbursts.
How we look at things, changes. What would have caused pain, does not, life’s up and downs, with a different understanding, a different outlook changes our perception of situations, the emotional punch holds no power, our reason softens any blows before they land.
Being on a spiritual path does not mean we get an easier ride, how we cope and deal with things becomes easier. If our goal is to find the kingdom, we will be given what we need to help. Even when lost, when our courage has gone, our faith and hope are lost, we still get up and continue along the path. The inner knowing, the teacher of teachers, the light within, it will get easier.
It is not that we were ever lost, we just have to work out our thoughts, and when our thoughts have been compromised, we must go with the feeling. Sometimes the path will become that hard, all we can do is look inwards and in that moment, all becomes clear, for a time, but.
That is the path, for us to overcome. The path may change completely but we still move forward, we may realise that the old path, was just that. A new path will always appear to lead us where we need to be, we will be guided.

The spiritual meaning of a rainbow is Hope.
Regardless of where we are, what we are going through, what we have lost or how hard and horrible it is. Search our spiritual purses, we will find what we need. Believe it or not. There will always be faith, hope and courage. Hold it in our hands or place it over our chests. Take a breath and move forward, it will be ok, we will be ok, YOU will be ok, I will be OK.
Along with all the hardships comes the beauty, an internal glow that guides and strengthens. We can see the unfoldment in every situation, with each step the love within grows, there is no blaming God but a reverence and knowing that all will be ok, all is not what it seems. So as much as the path has challenges to overcome, all answers and tools are in the love that we all carry.
The path is not an external journey, it is the journey inward with the heart being the doorway.
It is yoga, union, reunion, we become a united kingdom.
